What to have ready when calling an equipment repair shop

A clear first call helps the shop understand the equipment and plan an assessment.

Electrical test equipment and wiring

THE FIRST STEP

Start with the make and model, what is wrong and where the equipment is. Call with what you know; you do not need every detail before asking a repair question.

Call the Ingleside shop
01

Identify every relevant piece of equipment

On a bucket truck, the chassis and aerial device can have different manufacturers and model numbers. Have both sets of details ready. For a trailer or boring machine, include the serial number if available and identify any fitted equipment involved in the fault.

02

Describe what the equipment does

Tell us what happens, which function is affected and when the problem began. Mention a part you suspect, but describe the full symptom too. That gives us more to work with than a part name alone.

03

Explain the location and transport condition

The exact address, access restrictions, and whether the machine can be moved safely affect planning. Tell the shop about loaded reels, heavy trailers, or an aerial boom that cannot be stowed.

04

Mention recent changes

Mention recent repairs, replacement components, wiring changes and faults that have returned. Have service records ready if you have them. For several units, list each unit number, make, model and fault so we can discuss repair priorities and separate arrival arrangements.
